Physiotherapy
Our physiotherapists are trained in manual orthopedic physiotherapy, acupuncture, and exercise therapies to provide individualized and thorough treatment. Our goal is to return our client’s to maximum function and wellness as quickly as possible. All of our therapists are registered physiotherapists with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. Sports Injury Rehabilitation
Our staff includes an athletic therapist who is also the head Athletic Trainer for the Guelph Storm Hockey Club for the past 11 years. All of our physiotherapists are highly trained to treat all levels of athletes with a variety of injuries. Our gym facility is equipped with a stationary bike, treadmill, weight equipment, and stability balls.
Post Surgical Rehabilitation
Our physiotherapists work in close communication with the operating surgeons to ensure consistent care. We are experienced in treating client’s post surgeries including: Knee arthroscopic surgery and ligament repair, total knee replacement, total hip replacement, rotator cuff repair, anterior shoulder stabilization, and spinal fusion.
Low Back Pain
Physiotherapy has been proven to decrease the recurrence rate of low back injury and significantly assist recover from back pain which can affect up to 70% of the population at some point in their lives. Treatment for low back pain involves both relieving pain and preventing future episodes of pain.
Motor Vehicle Injury
Our post motor vehicle accident rehabilitation philosophy includes personalized programs emphasizing pain management, patient education, manual physiotherapy, progressive exercise therapy, and return to function.
Industrial Medicine
Workplace injuries may occur as a result of gradual repetitive strain or due to a sudden trauma.
We offer physiotherapy services for workplace injuries as well as:

Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years as a system of treating disease and relieving pain using fine needles inserted into specific points on the body. The World Health Organization has recognized acupuncture as a vitally important part of medicine. All of our physiotherapists have taken post-graduate training in acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (AFCI) and are able to incorporate acupuncture into treatment if indicated.
Active Release Techniques
Active Release Technique (ART) is a state-of-the-art soft tissue system that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. It works by releasing the buildup of dense scar tissue in the affected area and restoring normal muscle function. It can be applied to a wide variety of conditions including plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain, muscle strains, back pain, tennis elbow and shin splints. Our athletic therapist is a certified ART provider.
Massage Therapy
Wellington Physiotherapy Associates is pleased to offer appointments with a registered massage therapist. Massage therapy can assist in pain control, decrease stress, and increase flexibility. It can help recovery after an injury or relieve general tension.
Temporomandibular Disorders
Temporomandibular disorders is the name given to jaw pain that can include joint locking, difficulty chewing, clicking, and headaches. The condition can develop gradually from years of jaw clenching and stress, or suddenly following physical trauma or motor vehicle accidents. Interventions including physiotherapy can dramatically improve many patient’s condition.
Post-Fracture
When referred by a physician, patients of Wellington Physiotherapy Associates can access the Exogen Bone Healing System. The Exogen Bone Healing System has been shown to accelerate bone healing. Fractures which may normally take 5 months to heal can heal 2 months faster with Exogen treatment. Please call for further information.
